I like the idea of writing my memories in my morning pages, and I've realized how valuable that is. I think I've been doing it for almost over six years now, or maybe longer, I don't know. It's good because, first of all, it helps me unload everything that's on my mind. A lot of the time it helps me get organized, organize my goals; other times, bring my personal goals down to earth; and sometimes it's simply a way of talking to myself. And why not document fragments of my life?

And today, in one of those pages, I ended up writing about my return to Debian.

Over the past two years I was using macOS, because I used the Mac from work. The truth is, the Mac is very good hardware. The operating system looks nice, sure, but to me it isn't technically as good as Linux. There were a few things that mattered to me that I missed during that time using a Mac. Now I'm back on Debian.

The first one, by far, is the package system. Debian's binary packages use the .deb format, and tools such as APT and dpkg manage them. The way the whole system handles dependencies and versions is technically excellent and very tidy. I've left a few references below.

Another thing I really missed is my window manager, XMonad. I suppose I only use the basics, but those basic things are very useful to me, like switching between windows with a keyboard shortcut. The same goes for opening a terminal: another keyboard shortcut. I also love that it's a tiling window manager. I'm really used to it, and it's super fast. I love that it's fast.
