About me

I’m Gastón, and I live in Arroyo Leyes, Santa Fe. I started writing my first programs when I was ten years old, using my best friend’s computer, a CZ Spectrum.

I’m the founder of the Litoral Ruby community. I’ve been programming for the web since 2004, mainly with Ruby and Rails, with the goal of making the internet a better place.

I’ve made contributions to some of the projects I care about: Rails, Ruby, Rubyspec, Rubinius, and Debian.

Outside the digital world, I play reggae music. I recorded an EP in Kingston, Jamaica, at Tuff Gong Studios, Bob Marley’s legendary studio.

I also enjoy writing. I write about technology on my blog, but I also like writing short stories. I take analog photographs from time to time, and I practice Jiu-Jitsu.

Anyway, I’m still the ten-year-old kid who used to play with the CZ Spectrum. Deep down, that’s what I do.

Calisthenics & BJJ

I practice Calisthenics and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, also enjoy exploring rivers through kayaking. Furthermore, I dedicate myself to my garden as a relaxing hobby.

Minimalism & Reading

I embrace minimalism as a philosophy centered on simplicity, clarity, and living with intention. Reading is an important part of that journey, and I often find inspiration in authors such as Leo Babauta, Tim Ferriss, and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. Books like "Zen Habits" and "Flow" have influenced how I think about work, attention, habits, and a meaningful life.

Father

Above all, I am a proud father. My aim is to live a minimalist life, seeking the essence in everything I do.
